Welcome to Marathon Bible, an independent guide to distance running, half marathon and marathon training, running technique, race preparation, running shoes and gear. We help runners in the United States, from people starting to run or preparing for a first 5K or 10K to runners training for a half marathon or marathon make sense of their options without spending hours comparing listings.

1. Who We Are

Marathon Bible is an independent guide to distance running. We explain how to start running, how half marathon and marathon training is usually structured, what easy runs, long runs, tempo runs and tapering are for, and how to prepare for race day.

Our guides cover running basics, training methods, running shoes and gear, fueling and hydration, recovery and race preparation. We rely on published sports-medicine and exercise guidance, race organizer information and manufacturer specifications. We do not write personalized or medical training plans, and when a guide is not based on our own running or testing, we say so.

Marathon Bible is run by a small editorial team (Marathon Bible Editors). We research and write every guide on this site, and we review it before it is published.

2. What You Will Find Here

3. How We Research

Our recommendations are based on research, not hands-on lab testing. We work from published guidance from sports-medicine bodies such as the American College of Sports Medicine, CDC physical activity guidelines, peer-reviewed exercise research, race organizer information and manufacturer specifications. Where a claim matters for safety, health or a buying decision, we name or link to the source. Our Editorial Policy explains the process in detail.

Our product roundups list products that match the criteria explained in each guide. Product names, features and images in those roundups come from the retailer’s product listings at the time of writing. We do not quote prices, and we do not publish our own star ratings or invented test results.

4. Transparency & Affiliate Disclosure

Marathon Bible is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Commissions never decide what we cover or recommend. Read our full Affiliate Disclosure for details.

5. Keeping Content Up to Date

Products, specifications, standards and guidance change. We review and update our guides, and we show an updated date only when an article has actually been revised. Please check the manufacturer’s or retailer’s page for the latest details before you buy.

Important

Running guidance here is general information, not medical advice. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, are returning after an injury or have not exercised for a long time, talk to a doctor before starting or increasing training. Stop running and seek medical care for chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath or pain that gets worse as you run. Increase mileage gradually, drink to thirst in the heat, and follow race organizer guidance on weather and medical support.
